Our bid
The process
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Company is currently developing and producing the bid book for the Gold Coast to host the 2018 Games. The bid book must be submitted on 1 May 2011 to the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF).
The CGF is the international owner of the Commonwealth Games that determines and oversees the bid process.
The CGF currently consists of 71 member countries and territories known as Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs). Each CGA has one equal vote in determining the successful host city.
Formal expressions of interest (EOIs) were lodged with the CGF in London on 31 March 2010. EOIs were received from Australia (Gold Coast) and Sri Lanka (Hambantota), resulting in only two Candidate Cities for 2018.
Each CGA will review the bid submission and have the opportunity to visit the competing countries before a winning city is selected and announced on 11 November 2011.
