The company
On 1 July 2010 Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Bid Ltd was officially established as a company.
This special purpose vehicle established by the Government is responsible for the development and promotion of Australia's bid to host the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018.
The company will be overseen by a Board of Directors with equal representation from the Australian Commonwealth Games Association and the Queensland Government.
Chief Executive Officer
Former Australian Sports Commission boss Mark Peters has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Gold Coast's 2018 Commonwealth Games Bid team.
Mr Peters takes over the reigns from Michael Denton who guided the Gold Coast Bid from the feasibility stage since August 2008.
The board
On 1 July 2010, the eight-member 2018 Commonwealth Games Bid Board met on the Gold Coast for its first meeting.
The meeting focused on establishing administrative arrangements for the Board and discussed key milestones to be achieved prior to the lodgement of the Bid in May 2011.
Each member brings a wealth of business, infrastructure, logistics, tourism and transportation expertise to the board.
There is a strong Gold Coast representation on the board with four of the eight members long-term residents who have raised families on the coast and are an integral part of the community.

The Committee
A community and business reference group has been established and will be chaired by Gold Coast's well known business owner and local resident, Andrew Bell.
The committee will ensure local businesses and the community receive regular updates and opportunities to be involved in the bid process.
